1. Cannot Login?

CNA is your student number / Staff ID. Your student number can be found on the student card. Image Example of Student Card
If you do not have student number yet, please contact your local Campus Secretariat. If you forget the password, you can reset the password on https://cnatools.vtc.edu.hk/cnaportal/ResetPassword.aspx. CNA password should be changed every 180 days according to the Security policy. Is your CNA password been expired? If yes, change your password immediately to avoid access denial to email system and CNA related services.

2. Forgot Password?

If you have forgotten your password, you can try to reset your password via https://cnatools.vtc.edu.hk/CNAPortal/ResetPassword.aspx. You should follow the rules below to format your password.
  • Should adopt a significantly different password from the previous one.
  • Shall not re-use the previous two passwords.
  • Shall not include any personal information such as name, ID number, telephone number or date of birth.
  • At least 6 characters long
  • Shall contain at least any three of following:
    1. Include at least one capital letter.
    2. Include at least one small letter.
    3. Include at least one digit.
    4. Include at least one symbol. (e.g.: ! @ # $ % ^ & *)
  • Don't use any dictionary word (e.g. happy, apple)
  • Don't use more than 3 of continuous characters (e.g. AAAA, aaaa, 1111, @@@@)
  • Don't include any part of your name. (If you name is "chan tai man", your password should not contain the word of "chan" or "tai" or "man". No matter the word is capital or small letter.)
  • Don't reuse previous password.

3. What to do on login page?

Before you can access the services provided in MyPortal, you are required to login into the system:
  1. Either input your User ID (Campus Network Account) or User Alias
  2. Enter your password
  3. Click the 'Login' button
If you have problem on your user ID and password, please contact your campus support for more information.

4. What are the minimum system requirements to access MyPortal?

Your computer has to meet the following requirements in order to access MyPortal:
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 or 9, Firefox, Safari, Chrome
  • With the internet access

5. How can I access MyPortal?

To connect to MyPortal, just simply launch your browser and input the address of MyPortal (https://myportal.vtc.edu.hk/wps/portal) into the Address search box. The login page of MyPortal should bring up to you within a several seconds.

6. What languages are supported by the MyPortal system?

The MyPortal system supports English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese on display. Chinese input is also allowed in some of the user interfaces.

You can easily switch between the three language interfaces by clicking the options 'English', '繁體中文' and ‘簡體中文’ on the top of the screen.

8. How to get support when problem encountered?

Should you have any problem on using MyPortal, you may:
  • Click the 'FAQ' link, for the general questions, at the right hand corner
  • Click the 'Help' link, for the detail information on how to use the system, at the right hand corner

9. Screen layout abnormal or functions not working when visiting MyPortal using Internet Explorer

When encountering the above problems when using Internet Explorer, please check browser settings as follows:
  1. Press F12 inside browser to open the following window
  2. If Browser Mode / Document Mode is not IE8 / IE8 Standards, please click on Browser Mode / Document to open pull-down menu and then choose Internet Explorer 8 and Internet Explorer 8 Standards

10. Which Browsers/Smart Phones platform support MyPortal?

11. "This Connection is Untrusted" error message appears, what to do?

If problem occurs when using Mozilla Firefox, please check your browser setting:
  1. Click I Understand the Risks. Click Add Exception. The Add Security Exception dialog will appear.
  2. Check Permanently store this exception. Click Confirm Security Exception.

13. If student cannot login MyPortal, what to do?

  1. If student just enrolled, all system will be able to login after one day.
  2. Did student connect to login page?
  3. Forgot password?
  4. Caps Lock pressed?
  5. Correct student no.? (9 digit)

14. How to Enable JaveScript?

Internet Explorer 8
  1. Select Tools > Internet options
  2. In Security tab > Select Internet Zone > Click Custom level.
    Scroll down to Active scripting > Check Enable

Internet Explorer 9
  1. Select Tools > Internet options
  2. In Security tab > Select Internet Zone > Click Custom level.
    Scroll down to Active scripting > Check Enable

Mozilla Firefox
  1. Select Menu > Options > Options
  2. In Content tab > Check Enable JavaScript

Google Chrome
  1. Select Setting > Settings
  2. Click Show advanced settings > Privacy > Click Content settings
  3. Under JavaScript > Select Allow all sites to run JavaScript

Apple Safari
  1. Select Setting > Preferences
  2. In Security tab > Check Enable JavaScript
